The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently announced that the 2022 EEO-Component 1 data collection will open on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, and the deadline for employers to file is Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The requirement applies to private employers with 100 or more employees and federal government contractors and subcontractors with 50 or more employees and contracts worth at least $50,000. Employers must submit the number of individuals that they employ by job category, gender, and race/ethnicity.
Voluntary self-identification is the preferred method for identifying race and ethnicity. In the event that an employee declines to self-identify, the EEOC has stated that employers can conduct a visual survey or employment records may be used to determine such information.
